Abstract
Clinical guidelines are generalizations that are not completely scientifically documented, but have proved to be useful, dependable, and practical in the clinical setting.
Based on the understanding of clinical guidelines, this article will outline and discuss a method of blood gas interpretation that is orderly, sensible, and reasonably simple. This method is clinically very useful because the interpretation will delineate the primary life-threatening physiologic abnormality.
It is hoped this article will provide a practical approach to cardiopulmonary supportive medicine for the accomplished physicians.
